Hello ！
I recently attended the Central Union school tour and asked a lot of questions, so I thought I would share
with those who will APPLY this year.
Last year, they were able to send out accept notices to everyone in July for the 3 year old class that started in August this year. For the past 3 years, even if everyone who applied did not make it to the 1st round, they were able to get an acceptance notice as long as they were in the wait pool. In other words, it seems that even if the acceptance notifications are sent out in order, they are being passed on to other schools. In my opinion, the school grounds are very SAFE and bright.
However, I felt that the school's educational policy, assignments, academics, and the number and content of field trips were not as good as the other three schools I attended. I felt that this is why students tend to go to other schools.

I will share the good news with those who are considering this school, as I was told that they have all received acceptance letters for the past three years ！.

Nice to meet you ！ I am anxious to take the Kinder exam because all the schools are too difficult. I have a question for those who have taken the Hana Hau'oli School. I heard that the interview is not only for the children but also for the parents and that it is like an activity.

Hi ！ My daughter who will be 3 next month
received an acceptance letter from Central Union last month. Eight children from the same area took the test and all eight, including our child, received First round acceptance letters.
The school said that the year before last and last year they were able to notify everyone who was eventually put on the waitlist by July, so maybe that had an impact. lol
Central Union is my 4th choice and a slip up.

I paid the enrollment fee because I got an acceptance letter from Central Union, which I took as a stopgap.
My second choice is Montessori Community School
My third choice is Midpac.
I am waiting for the results of Midpac and Montessori Community.

My first choice St. Clements fell through and is now waitlist.
So my question is, if I put St. Clements on my waitlist, is there a good chance that I will get an acceptance letter if I waitlist?

We didn't get into St. Clements either. Same waitlist.
I also applied to Queen Emma, Montessori Community School, and Unity School, but they haven't announced their acceptance yet ！ Most of them are in March

Central Union, I haven't heard from anyone who applied this year who hasn't received an acceptance letter ！
St. Clements is not easy to get on the waitlist … we have to wait and see ！

This is a little different from the topic, but my child took the Punahou kinder from Hongwanji Mission School and is now attending Omidyar. Read on if you are interested.

Classmates are from Central Union, St. Clements, Angel, Unity, a few from Early School, Paris, Seagull, Star, St. Patrick, Midpac, Japanese kindergarten, and many other preschools. One was a waitlist and continues to attend Hongwanji. We only took the Punahou test, so we have not heard from others whether they were accepted or not at Iolani. ）

If you are choosing a preschool with a view to taking the Kinder test, I don't think they will take a large number of students from one school, so you should not be concerned about the competition （ which seems to be very high ） and not just from famous preschools. I think it would be a good idea to choose a school that is easy for your child to attend, even if it is a school where not many people take the Kinder test. （ Unfortunately, our child did not fit the academic school culture of Hongwanji, so we applied to Punahou, and now she seems to be enjoying every day. Hongwanji had Japanese classes two days a week and swimming in PE, which was nice. As for the details of Punahou's Kinder exam, I asked my child what she did after the individual interview, and she said that she chatted with the interviewer, did shapes and puzzle problems on her ipad, and drew her face in pencil on white paper, just FYI. The group interview was online, but the interviewer read a book and asked questions about the contents and thoughts, and they sang a song together.
