Q:
Can we BYOB?
A:
I don't think you can BYOB, they serve an interesting variety beers and Sochu, that you don't see at other places.

My friends and I were outside looking at the menu and were not sure if we were going to try it or not. But when we were greeted with a warm hello we decided to give them a try and we were so glad we did (no pun intended).
One of the best Ramen I've had in years. Thank you so much for the great customer service and amazing food.
Must try, we are definitely coming back.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Clarissa L.Honolulu, HI1259350Apr 28, 2024
We came across this place many many years ago when all plates were actually $3 and some change. It was great! Small plates are awesome when you like a lot of different things or not a lot of things
Our last visit was less than great, unfortunately. I think one of their grills was down, the food took really reallllllllly long. We were there well over 2 hours for dinner which is rough because we don't live just around the corner.
We do love it here tho and hope staffing and cooking issues have been resolvedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beatrice R.Long Beach, CA444184203Feb 3, 2024
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night with my husband, place seemed empty so we were excited to be able to eat here after seeing all the positive reviews.
Service was friendly and staff was extremely nice (which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1), unfortunately the food itself lacked.. made the visit a disappointing experience. Majority of our meats were overcooked and dry - the chicken skin we ordered were the highlight of the dinner because it was so crispy. I left two half eaten skewers because I just couldn't get myself to finish it.
Given that we had to pay $6 for parking and had mediocre food with fruit flies trying to land on our table... I would reconsider before choosing this place to eat when craving yakitori if you are here visiting.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 5 - Apr 16, 2024
We came here on the recommendation of a local friend, and we had a great time! There's a good amount of seating in the front and back, it does get a little smoky in the front (classic Yakitori style). The food was great, our favorite was a yuzu beef skewer which was a special. I'd definitely order early as things ran out as our meal went on. There's lots of great options though based on your personal preference!

What happened? I loved this place the first couple times I came here. It's changed significantly since then.
Wait times have tripled or quadrupled and so has the bill.
Really feel bad for this place as it must not be doing well. Hope they can turn their wait times around and charge more reasonable price for their food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 26, 2022Previous reviewMade reservations for 5pm on a Sunday. Parking is tough but to be expected in town. There's a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant.
I absolutely love this little slice of Japan in Kapahulu. The service was great and the food was even better. Got a plethora of Yakitori sticks, chazuke, and other side dishes.
Will definitely be back soon! - Jan 18, 2024
Sooooo delicious and fun to eat here! Everything comes in two skewers so it's best to go in groups of 2-6 in even numbers for sharing. The restaurant is rather snug, so I wouldn't recommend a larger party than that.
Best bites:
- Garlic and Pirikara Menma (bamboo shoots)
- Okonomiyaki fries
- Chicken meatball skewers
- Salmon zosui (some carbs/rice to pair w the meat)
They only have street parking as most places in kapahulu do. It's pretty smoky inside, so don't wear contacts! They're very good about coming around to take more orders and refill drinks, we liked to order in waves so we can try stuff and reorder our favorites. Food comes out quickly. Highly recommend the food and service here.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 6174125Jan 4, 2024
I am sad to put 2/5 stars. I used to enjoy this place and hadn't been in many years.
Parking is in a small lot in the back. It used to be free but now you need to scan the QR code and it cost $4 an hour after tax. We originally didn't pay but when we went inside the restaurant, there was a sign saying we need to pay or will get a ticket.
After paying the park, we were told the grill was down, wait time was about 15-20 mins for it to get fixed. There was fried food and noodles to order.
We ordered chicken karaage, ika karaage, and popcorn shrimp. We thought everything was over fried but luckily chicken was still tender. Oil was probably too hot or needs to be changed. The popcorn shrimp was too over cooked and was hard so we had to let the waiter know because it wasn't enjoyable. They brought us a new popcorn shrimp, which was better but still extra crispy.
If the grill wasn't down when we sat down and when it was time to order, we wouldn't have ordered fried items and just stuck with the grilled items. Their grilled items is what I would recommend.
The yakitori was good. Bacon mushroom tare, mi-tare, momo tare mayo, and tsukune cheese was not bad.
Glad-udon taste good. But noodles were broken or we got the bottom of the noodle bag because the noodles were in small pieces.
Ambiance and cleanliness wasn't great. There were a lot of fruit flies flying around. There's a menu but also signs on the wall for other items. The menus are old and the papers on the wall are old and turning color. Felt dirty. You can tell the prices have been adjusted many times.
The staff was the best thing about our meal. Everyone was really welcoming and nice.
This place isn't horrible but would benefit from a good cleaning and updated menus to reflect their changes in the last few years.
Great staff and customer service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - Dec 16, 2023
Came here without a reservation and they seated us at the back table next to the bathrooms. During the course of our meal, the other tables up front weren't even filled.
This place could satisfy the yakitori craving but idk if I'd go back.
The service was OK. Our waiter first gave our dishes to the wrong table. And every time he came by to drop off food, he didn't talk at all. Made for an awkward experience. On the other hand, the owner or manager was very nice and came by to check on how everyone was doing.
-Chicken meatballs: 0 out of 5 stars. this dish needs WORK. It was so dry, both on the inside and outside. Extremely disappointing, considering chicken meatball is always my favorite at a yakitori :( it's my gauge to see how good a spot is... it was just extremely hard and not really edible. Not juicy at all, felt like I was eating rubber.
-Yaki onigiri: very good but takes 30 minutes. Unfortunately I wanted to eat it WITH my meat skewers but it came at the end. I liked that it came with a side of soup.
-Age tofu takoyaki style: this was the saving grace of the meal. Such a great dish!! If I got anything again, it'd be this. I liked the crispness of the tofu complemented by the takoyaki sauce.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 20, 2024
If in the mood for an Izakaya restaurant, Yakitori Glad is your spot. The dishes are very affordable ranging from $5-$7 per dish with two skewers. We tried a variety of dishes such as chicken heart, thighs, skins, beef, and mushrooms. All very tasty. The katsu skewers and wrapped mushroom was my favorites. I'm not huge fan of chicken heart but I know many are. The mune ume mayo was a little salty for my taste. The gyu-kushi was also very good and tender with a nice garlic taste. They have a variety of drinks on tap and more. There was no wait time on a weekend evening with lots of seating. I believe there is parking in the back of the restaurant but we found parking on the street. Definitely coming back here again.

Stopped in on a random weekday night and got lucky with plenty available parking spots in the small paid lot out back and many available seats inside. Most things were pretty good- sometimes the chicken was a bit tough and on the drier side, but some things like the steak and chicken hearts were superbly juicy and flavorful. Also loved the chewy and spicy kimchi tako! The only thing I'd skip would be their "Glad Ramen" which was rather simple and less satisfying than the other choices. They have lots of fun alcoholic drink options too and the staff were friendly and checked in the right amount. Definitely worth a quick dinner bite!
