*Visitor dies off waters of ‘Anini Beach Park Friday*

‘ANINI – A male visitor died Friday afternoon after being pulled from waters off ‘Anini Beach Park.

The victim has been identified as David Kositsky, a 70-year-old man from Washington.

On Friday, May 24, at approximately 12:00 p.m., first responders were dispatched to ‘Anini Beach Park for a swimmer in distress. According to a preliminary report, Kositsky had been snorkeling when friends were unable to locate him and notified a lifeguard.

A lifeguard with the Ocean Safety Bureau located and brought the unresponsive victim to shore. CPR was administered until medics arrived and took over advanced resuscitation efforts. The victim was transported to the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
