*Multiple agencies search for missing swimmer in waters off ‘Anini*

‘ANINI – Multiple agencies are actively searching for a missing swimmer in waters off ‘Anini Beach on Sunday.

According to a preliminary report, a 59-year-old male visitor of Arizona was reported missing at approximately 12:15 p.m., after he was last seen snorkeling near the back channel of ‘Anini Beach.

First responders were dispatched to the scene and initiated an air-, sea-, and shoreline-search.

Firefighters with the Hanalei fire station, Rescue 3, Air 1, Ocean Safety Bureau and the on-duty Battalion Chief are responding to this incident. Additionally, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Kaua‘i Police Department are assisting with the search efforts and volunteers from Life’s Bridges, a grief counseling service, are assisting the man’s family.

Updates on the search will be given as information becomes available.
