7:45 a.m., June 4, Refuse Facilities Update

Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 7:45 a.m., June 4.

*Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station ***(NEW UPDATE)*****
*5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
*Current Status:* Due to equipment delays, bagged trash service will open today at 8:30 a.m. and will be limited to bagged trash only until further notice, with repairs expected to take approximately 2 to 3 weeks. Due to staffing issues with the contractor, scrap metal and metal appliances recycling is closed until further notice. In addition, the green waste service will be closed until further notice due to scheduled repair work. All other services are available.

 

*Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station*
5051 Kahi Road, Kapa‘a
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status:* CLOSED for renovations through December 2025. However, green waste collection at Kapa‘a RTS will remain open. Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

 

*Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station**
*3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status: *All services are available.  

As of May 16, 2024, Līhu‘e is accepting construction and demolition debris cut to 3-foot lengths and trailers containing trash. Pallets must be cut into quarters. Līhu‘e does not accept scrap metal or appliances. *Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station*
4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status:* Due to staffing issues with the contractor, scrap metal and metal appliances recycling is closed until further notice. All services are available. 

 

*Kekaha Landfill* **
6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
*Current Status:* Due to staffing issues with the contractor, scrap metal and metal appliances recycling is closed until further notice. All services are available.
