Oct. 17, 3:45 P.M. UPDATE, County of Kaua‘i, Anahola brush fire

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters continue to monitor multiple brush fires in Anahola.

*_Response_*

A 1-acre fire along Kuhio Highway near the Anahola Marketplace and a 5,000-square foot brush fire mauka, near Kalalea Road, are now under control. Fire crews will remain on scene to monitor hot spots.

*_Assets_*

Personnel with the Kapa‘a and Kaiakea fire stations are on scene. Air 1 is on standby.  

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident. 

*_Road closures_*

Kuhio Highway, near Anahola Marketplace, is now open.

According to preliminary reports, Kaua‘i Police Dispatch received a report of the first fire shortly after 1:05 p.m. The second fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m.
