*Search continues for missing Anahola woman*

LĪHUʻE – The Kaua‘i Police Department (KPD) continues to ask for the public’s assistance in the search for Benetta Kaiwi, a 47-year-old woman from Anahola. She was reported missing after her vehicle was found unattended near Lumaha‘i Beach on Oct. 7.

On Monday, Oct. 7, at approximately 8:45 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the area near Lumaha‘i Beach following reports of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival they discovered an unattended vehicle, registered to Kaiwi, located approximately 100 feet down the cliffside near the water’s edge. There is a possibility that Kaiwi may have entered the water.

Kūhiō Highway was closed for approximately one hour yesterday as crews worked to remove the vehicle.

The search is ongoing, with assistance from the Kaua‘i Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kaiwi is five feet six inches tall, weighs approximately 220 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and is of Hawaiian descent.

Anyone with information about Kaiwi’s whereabouts or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to call KPD Dispatch at 808-241-1711.

Lumahai

On October 7 at approximately 8:45 p.m., first responders were dispatched following reports of a single-vehicle crash. An unattended vehicle was located approximately 100 feet down the cliffside.

Benetta Kaiwi

Benetta Kaiwi is five feet six inches tall, weighs approximately 220 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and is of Hawaiian descent.
