legislative participation*

LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Committee on the Status of Women (KCSW) is partnering with the Public Access Room (PAR) to hold a virtual workshop where Kaua‘i residents can learn about effective ways to participate in Hawai‘i’s legislative process. The virtual workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

This workshop is free and open to the public. The workshop will be led by Andrea “Andy” Langhurst, the Public Access Coordinator for the PAR at the Hawai‘i State Capitol. PAR, a statutorily established office of the Legislative Reference Bureau, offers invaluable, non-partisan support to residents looking to get involved in legislative activities. With over 15 years of experience in corporate and academic libraries, Langhurst is an expert in facilitating access to public resources and legislative information. She brings a wealth of experience, extensive knowledge and a commitment to helping anyone interested in understanding and engaging in the legislative process.

There will also be an in-person option to participate in the workshop. A virtual presentation will be shown at the Office of Boards and Commissions conference room, located at 4444 Rice Street, Suite 300, in Līhu‘e; however, space is limited. Interested attendees are encouraged to RSVP early by emailing boardsandcommissions@kauai.gov. For more information on the workshop, please contact Lori Barrett at boardsandcommissions@kauai.gov.
