Free Consultation : Please contact us if you do not know how to apply for unemployment insurance, or if you want to confirm that your application has been filed.

Under the CARES Act, COVID-19, unemployment insurance coverage was expanded to include not only regular W-2 ( employees ) but also
Freelancers, Gig workers, Independent Contractors, and other Self-Employees. Employees, such as Freelancers, Gig workers, Independent Contractors, etc., are now eligible for unemployment insurance.
In addition to this, $ 600 ( weekly ) additional payments from the government will be added every week until July 31st, so that a maximum of $ 1248 ( Hawaii ) will be paid every week.

Unemployment insurance eligibility begins the week after your application is received, so if you do not apply by Saturday of the week you are laid off, you will not receive your weekly benefit until the following week.
* To be precise, it is possible to file an additional application with the unemployment insurance office for the
unpaid portion, even if you filed late, but it is quite difficult.
