Step back in time to the plantation era of Hawaii

Hawaii Plantation Village is a historical museum that recreates the life of plantation immigrants.
Visitors can learn about the life of immigrants in those days, their hardships and difficulties, and how they overcame them and adapted to their environment.
Japanese language tours are also available, with experiences by Japanese-Americans.
Options such as sugar cane tasting are also available. Enjoy a trip back in time to Hawaii.

Architectural replicas of each ethnic group faithfully reconstructed as they appeared at the time

Workers from many different countries came to Hawaii to work on the plantations.
The first to arrive was the Chinese (1823). Later, as the demand for sugar increased, workers from Japan (1868 first group), Portugal (1878), Puerto Rico (1900), Okinawa (1900's), Korea (1903), and the Philippines (1906) moved to Hawaii with their own cultures. They brought their cultures with them to Hawaii.
The Plantation Village recreates the homes of each ethnic group. Other community buildings and plantations are also recreated.

Plantation Village Tours

Plantation Village Tours offers free Japanese language tours as well as entrance to the vitege and exhibition hall. Many of our tour guides are Japanese Americans of Japanese ancestry. You can enjoy the tour while including their experiences.
