Hanahauori, my daughter took the test last year and was not accepted.
There were almost 260 applicants for 24 slots,
27 were accepted last year and 30 made the wait list.
I heard that my friend's child was able to stay on the wait list.
Hanahau'oli does not take the kinder exam, but the junior kinder
Wait list is filled only by those who are left out of kinder to Punahou or Iolani.
About 200 are just rejected.
It's a miracle that they even stay on the Wait list, it's such a competitive school.

It is still a very difficult school. I was told by the school that it is more difficult than getting into
Punahouiolani.
I see that only a very small number of students can remain on the WAIT LIST.
I thought about trying Hanahauuolis School since I was not accepted to my first choice Montessori Community School at age 3, but the school told me it was extremely difficult and just the best in Hawaii for my child's education if I could get in.

I think you should just submit an application.　My daughter got in from Lillee K without any knees or anything, and my son got in from 2nd grade.　Admission to Kinder is only available if there are openings, and the child of a waiter who took the pre is entitled to it, but I believe they submit an application every year after that for the rest of the school year.

There were a few kids who moved or moved to other schools while they were in school.

I see that you can submit an application every year from Grade 1. We didn't make the WAIT LIST, so it looks like we can't submit Kinder, so
I will try again for Grade 1.

I was told that there are a few slots at Montessori Community School where some children move from Grade 4 to Punahou, so there are quite a few slots to get in again with a Grade 5 applique.
I am sure it is for the same reason.

If you don't mind my asking, did your children go on to Punahou or Iolani after graduating from Hana Hau'oli?

The majority of our children's classes were Punahoe, Iolani if the parents were alumni, and a few were mid-pack.　We both moved to Punahou in 7th grade.　The best thing about attending Hana Haoli is not only the quality of the teachers, but the community with the parents has been a great asset.　I believe that my children have learned to think and act on their own.　It's been a long time since we graduated, but we still have a close family relationship with both the children and their parents.

Hi ！ My daughter who will be 3 next month
received an acceptance letter from Central Union last month. Eight children from the same area took the test and all eight, including our child, received First round acceptance letters.
The school said that the year before last and last year they were able to notify everyone who was eventually put on the waitlist by July, so maybe that had an impact. lol
Central Union is my 4th choice and a slip up.

I paid the enrollment fee because I got an acceptance letter from Central Union, which I took as a stopgap.
My second choice is Montessori Community School
My third choice is Midpac.
I am waiting for the results of Midpac and Montessori Community.

My first choice St. Clements fell through and is now waitlist.

This is a little different from the topic, but my child took the Punahou kinder from Hongwanji Mission School and is now attending Omidyar. Read on if you are interested.

Classmates are from Central Union, St. Clements, Angel, Unity, a few from Early School, Paris, Seagull, Star, St. Patrick, Midpac, Japanese kindergarten, and many other preschools. One was a waitlist and continues to attend Hongwanji. We only took the Punahou test, so we have not heard from others whether they were accepted or not at Iolani. ）

If you are choosing a preschool with a view to taking the Kinder test, I don't think they will take a large number of students from one school, so you should not be concerned about the competition （ which seems to be very high ） and not just from famous preschools. I think it would be a good idea to choose a school that is easy for your child to attend, even if it is a school where not many people take the Kinder test. （ Unfortunately, our child did not fit the academic school culture of Hongwanji, so we applied to Punahou, and now she seems to be enjoying every day. Hongwanji had Japanese classes two days a week and swimming in PE, which was nice. As for the details of Punahou's Kinder exam, I asked my child what she did after the individual interview, and she said that she chatted with the interviewer, did shapes and puzzle problems on her ipad, and drew her face in pencil on white paper, just FYI. The group interview was online, but the interviewer read a book and asked questions about the contents and thoughts, and they sang a song together.

Central Union is only available up to preschool, so there is no option to stay at Central Union for the kinder grades. People who are considering Mainland colleges often want to get into Punahou or Iolani sooner or later, so you might as well get them in when the time is right.

For example, at Punahou, if you care about your current school and stay through 8th grade, you will almost certainly lose your chance of admission.

I don't know if they have wifi, but how about Honolulu Coffee across from the convention center ？ It's very clean and spacious.
