Sorry to be realistic, but if you live in Japan and assume visa support, it is quite difficult to do anything other than work requiring Japanese language skills. There are quite a few Americans who are qualified to work in IT. Not only Hawaii residents, but even mainland US residents are attracted to IT jobs in Hawaii and apply for them. It is better to take people from the mainland who want to move to Hawaii with a good command of English than to provide visa support and have them move from Japan.

Conversely, jobs that make use of Japanese ＝ tourism ・ food and beverage, the income is often quite low, and if you emigrate from Japan relying only on Japanese, you will have a very difficult life.

This is my very recent experience.
Japanese president male and Japanese manager female. They are family friends.
They explained and offered high hourly wage in the interview and job advertisement, but in reality, they only pay low salary which is completely different. When I spoke to the president about the salary, he brushed me off. They do not put this in a written contract with the individual, so that they cannot be sued. I would be a fool not to have told them to put that in writing, and be careful of places that use that kind of tactic to prevent you from filling out paperwork to the detriment of the company. They made me do a lot of overwork and then made me fill out a form saying that the overwork would be adjusted by the week, so I didn't get paid for the overwork. The transportation allowance was also a lie. The store of such a fraudulent group is still in S King today.

Investigation Results in Recovery of $170,000 in Unpaid Wages and Penalties for 13 Workers

Honolulu - Honolulu restaurant owner allowed manager to illegally control a portion of workers' tips, averaging 55 per week A recent federal investigation uncovered facts that made it difficult for employees to earn a living by refusing to pay overtime wages to cooks who worked an average of 55 hours per week.

An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage ・ and Hour Division found that Rinka restaurant owner ・ R-International Inc. violated the Fair Labor Standards Act, resulting in $85,000 in unpaid wages for 13 employees and R-International Inc. was cited for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act and $85,000 in unpaid wages to 13 employees and a penalty of the same amount was collected. The department also lent the employer $10,000 in civil penalties for its egregious violations.

"The owner of Rinka Restaurant violated the law by refusing to pay the full amount of tips earned by its employees and by refusing to pay the required overtime to its cooks, demonstrating an abusive disregard for workers' rights," Honolulu Wage ・ Labor Hours Division Director Terrence ・ Trotter said. This incident is a warning that violating federal law can be very serious. We encourage all employers to contact us or use the U.S. Department of Labor's online resources before implementing potentially non-compliant practices."

Since 2016, the Wage ・ and Hour Division has reported that the Western Region conducted more than 2,650 investigations in the restaurant industry and recovered $24 million in unpaid wages for more than 15,300 employees. The department's Honolulu District Office
has conducted 228 of these investigations, found violations in 219 cases, and recovered more than $1.4 million in unpaid wages for nearly 1,700 employees.
