Mana-san, are you at the stage of thinking about moving from Japan to Hawaii? ？
I have been in Hawaii for a while for work, and I would like to write what I feel from that perspective, so I hope this will help you.

I have no intention to discredit Hawaii, but I myself did not come here of my own volition, and in that sense, I may not be
the majority.
Therefore, my impression of Hawaii may differ greatly from others, but I hope you can see it as an opinion.



・ What is better about Hawaii
As tonton mentioned, I am sure about the climate.
It is no exaggeration to say that there is no winter, and many people say that they no longer catch cold here. Compared to Japan with its high temperature and humidity, I feel that the burden on the body is much smaller than in Japan.
Also, with easy access to the beautiful ocean, I think it is still a paradise for those who love the sea.

Also, in terms of work, I personally think it may be a better fit than Japan.
The structure of the company is such that job changes are much more common than in Japan, so if you are capable, you can aim for a higher position
which I think is also an attractive point.
（ On the other hand, there is a risk of being eliminated without mercy if you are not capable ）

This may be limited to where I work, but the environment is more open and relaxed than in Japan.
The company is more strict than in Japan in terms of discrimination and harassment, and because of the nature of the island, the competition is less
intense and the corporate culture is more relaxed. However, I think this depends on the company.
Personally, I find it a better working environment than when I was in a Japanese company, but I think it depends on various conditions.


・ Things that are better in Japan
I think there are too many to write about.
Not only about prices, but also the level of security, service, sanitation, and transportation is much better in Japan as far as I am concerned.
As for prices and services, my skin feeling is that prices are 1/3 of what they are in Japan, and services are less hit or miss in my book, and
even if I had the misfortune to catch a miss, I thought the level of the miss would be forgivable.

In Japan, for example, if you live in a major city such as Tokyo, Osaka, or Nagoya, you can go on a
excursion to Okinawa or Hokkaido, for example, or even a short trip from Tokyo to Shizuoka or Osaka to Nagoya within a few hours ～ half a day. It takes only a few hours and less than half a day to get there.
Hawaii is an island, so the next destination would be the west coast of the U.S. or Japan, and the flight time alone is 5 ～ 10 hours.
If you add the time before and after the flight, it takes almost a full day just to travel, and the cost of that travel should be less in Japan.
So if you are the kind of person who likes to go away for a weekend or a short holiday, Japan is probably a better choice.

Also, Hawaii is a small island, so the places you go may always be the same.
If that is what you prefer, there is no problem at all, but "always going to the same place" is an option that can be taken in Japan as well, so
if you think about it in terms of "which is better", I think that Japan has more options and is better.


・ Permanent residence in Hawaii
I am not positive about permanent residence at this time.
It is true that Hawaii has many good points, but in terms of total livability,
I think it was easier to live in urban or similar areas in Japan （ or near the city centers of Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba ）.
I have the impression that Hawaii is a place to enjoy because it is a place to come for fun, and if you live there, you can see a different side of Hawaii.


In any case, depending on your current situation （ your job, age, residence, family situation, and future plans ） moving to Hawaii
may be highly recommended, or it may require careful consideration. I think it is a very good idea.
