Sorry, I don't know how to answer mango-san,

I also had a File an Initial Claim question, so I had to post it here. Please forgive my rudeness.


I received an email asking me to File an Initial Claim after July 4, so I filed my Initial Claim today, July 6.

Later, I found out that I did not get the screen to select whether to continue PEUC or Iinitial Claim.

Usually it seems to come up. （ I didn't know about it, so I just Submitted and closed it. ）


I then received an email with Confirmation number.

I didn't even make a selection, and it seems that I selected Iinitial Claim on my own, even though I intended to select PEUC continuation.


At the bottom of the Inquiry screen, in red, it says "YOUR CLAIM WILL EXPIRE ON 07/03/2022 AND YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR BENEFITS STILL NEEDS TO BE DETERMINED." .


The period is "Claim 07/04/2021 - 07/03/2022".

I called the call center about 100 times in a hurry because I want to continue PEUC, but the call is not connected.

It's been a long time since I called the call center, but I feel like it's harder to get through than before.

Now I am just at a loss.

In the meantime, I have sent out an email, and Language Services has sent it out in Japanese.


The same thing seemed to have happened in March, but after that, I wonder how those who, like me, did not get the screen to select the file and it was filed by itself, were handled after that ？

. I tried to follow the posts, but I couldn't find what happened after that, so I would be glad if you could tell me.

Since I sent an email, should I just continue to wait and see ？

Since you are not completely laid off but have been registered at work for a long time, you can enter the date of first attendance （ before becoming Furlough ） and the last day worked （ and the last day of the three months worked at a time ）.

① If you have not worked since you first applied for unemployment insurance, you did not have to file a File an Initial Claim. Please refer to #327 and #337 in the "PEUC September Extension Program （ Third PEUC ）" Topic for instructions on how to correct this.

② If you have worked on a short-time, part-time, on-call, or fixed-term contract since you first applied for unemployment insurance, you must File an Initial Claim. You can just wait and see.

In any case, the PEUC program has a $25 difference rule, so you can probably keep your current WBA. For more information, please follow and read the "PEUC September Extension Program （ PEUC 3rd ）" topic from around March 18.
