There has been a protest against the conversion of 2-3 tennis court spaces at Ala Moana Beach Park into dedicated pickleball courts.
Pickleball's reasons are that "tennis is becoming less popular" and "I don't see anyone using the tennis courts". However, the courts at Ala Moana Beach Park are the busiest tennis courts in Honolulu. There is no reason why you would not see people using the courts, unless it is raining or there is a storm.
Pickleball is very popular and I enjoy playing pickleball myself. New pickleball courts are popping up in Kakaako, Manoa, Hawaii Kai, and Kehi, which is great. However, I strongly oppose this protest because I think it is not right to take away the place to play other sports. I think it would be better if a new pickleball court was built in Ala Moana Park.

I thought it might be a good idea to ask for help here, but I wanted to post this to let as many people as possible know about it.
