I haven't had the same experience, but I'm sure there are jobs if you don't pick the right one.
I was laid off in Corona, but where I worked
there were many people in their 50s and 60s, including me. The hourly wage was low, so
there were not many people who could make a living from that alone. Those who did
had other jobs.
I think you can find them here at Vivinavi or in the classifieds.
Hawaii's minimum wage went to $12 an hour a while back.
It is supposed to go up every two years, but there are a few places that are offering a little more now
because there are fewer people.
There are also agencies that provide temporary staffing and job placement services, so
I think you can find clerical work at those places.
If you have a chance, I suggest you try living there for a few months.
Then you will get a better idea of what it is like.

I am also a senior citizen.
It depends on where you are from in the mainland,
but if you are from California, the hourly wage is certainly lower.
The standard of living is high, but
Hawaii has a well established Japanese community,
it is easy to live here, and
it is possible to get by without a car in the future.

I think you can live in Hawaii. The monorail still doesn't run and bus security is getting worse.

It is safer and more comfortable to have a car because it is an island. People who take driving for granted in Hawaii tend not to be

I don't think 50s is senior at all. I think they are still active. I think they are the generation with the highest income in Japan.

I wonder if people who have finished their mortgages and can afford to live comfortably are called seniors ？

In Japan, people put a sign with a senior mark on their cars from the age of 75 ？.

We don't have that in the US, so I don't know what age you have to be to be a senior driver, but I guess it depends on the individual.

Buses sometimes get homeless people on them, or they were stolen on board, or they didn't have a bathroom on board.

I have never heard a good story. I don't want my relatives or friends who come to our house to ride the bus because it is unsanitary.

I didn't know about the Mc Cully area, it seems to be located north of Waikiki ・ Ala Moana.
I've lost most of my appetite for things with the Corona disaster, so I guess I just have to figure out how to make ends meet for housing ・ food and other necessary expenses...
