I recommend a cheap SIM called Google Fi （ They use T-mobile's signal in Hawaii ）. Here is a referral link.

I was a T-mobile user for many years because it was easy to use in Japan and overseas, but I'm glad I switched. eSIM is also available so you can switch online. The basic plan is $ 20/month ＋ $ 10/GB, but in my case I use Wifi a lot, so $ 40 ～ 50 per month for one person. There are other plans available if you use more data. The best part is that I can use my high speed data in other countries like Japan for the same price ＆ data plan without having to do anything. In Japan, when I was back this month, they changed to Softbank signal.

For example, if you use 3GB this month in Hawaii and then use 3GB in Japan in the middle of the month, you would be charged the same rate for a total of 6GB. I don't see or hear many ads for Google Fi in Hawaii, so when I learned about it last year, I wished I had known about it earlier ・ ・ ・ ！

To sum up, if you are just on the go and check LINE or email, I don't think you need a Wi-Fi router.
However, it's very slow😅It takes a long time to open normal news sites, and you can't watch videos on Youtube.
I don't want to be frustrated when I'm out of town, so I apply for a Wi-Fi router rental before each departure and have it delivered to my parents' house on the day of arrival.
