That's not true.
When I was in Japan, there were numerous people who drove BMW, MERCEDES, VOLVO, etc. even though they were renting.

Japan and Hawaii are different.

Japan has too many earthquakes and disasters, so many people think it is a good idea not to buy a house.

I heard from someone whose house was swept away by a tsunami and their insurance did not cover it.

I think renting is safer and more secure in Japan because renting is cheap, you can save money in a deposit, and if you buy a new house it will go down quickly.

In Hawaii, people who have been renting for several decades are suffering from the hardships of life.

I think the key to living a prosperous retirement without lowering your standard of living is how you invest in real estate, stocks, crypto assets, etc.

I would not wish to purchase a house in Hawaii at a high price, even if I had the money.

I don't care if it's a beautiful condo or house on the mainland...

I lived in Tokyo, which is not a disaster area and rents are expensive. And I've lived in several states around the US and I've never seen a luxury car for rent. I'm sure there are a lot of luxury renters though.

I used to live in Torrance, CA and it's the same thing. I was also in Westchester, New York and it could be even more amazing.
