Information for 2023.
I have been to Honolulu → Narita → Chubu twice on JAL.
I entered Japan at Narita.
Then with checked baggage, I checked in for a domestic flight to Chubu. There was only 1.5 hours between arrival at Narita and departure from Chubu for domestic flights, but I was able to make both connections. I didn't have time to stop at a store in Narita.

When the same itinerary required a PCR test for entry into Japan in 2022,
I could not transfer on the same day because of the time required by quarantine at Narita.
After arriving at Narita, the only flight to Chubu the next day was an evening flight from Haneda, so we had to carry our checked luggage to Haneda and stayed overnight at the Royal Park Hotel in Haneda Airport. （ I had to pay for my own transportation ）
I think Haneda has more stores in the airport than Narita, so it was a good place to buy Tokyo souvenirs.

If you take a flight via Narita, you have to go through immigration at the final destination.
Perhaps "domestic" flights to/from Narita are only available to international passengers and are treated as international flights.
On the other hand, in the case of Haneda, I think it would be a connection to an existing domestic flight, so it would be an immigration inspection at Haneda. Also, you are considering flying home on JAL, I am planning to stay in Japan from late June to early July, and JAL is my first choice.
The trouble is that when returning to Honolulu from Nagoya, except for direct flights on Fridays,
many flights depart from Centrair first thing in the morning and you have to spend time at Haneda or Narita （ although there are late flights that depart from Centrair after 2:00 ）.
I am currently looking into Honolulu-Nagoya outbound and Haneda-Nagoya inbound tickets, although it is a hassle.
The drawback is that I have to pay extra for the bullet train, and if I want to pay a little more to buy a ticket that can be changed, I have to call the JAL counter, which is notorious for not connecting.

JAL's three flights a week starting July 14 will be great for people in the Tokai region.

Haneda, I have experience with transfers.

I went to
Honolulu → Haneda → Nagoya last May and this January, both on JAL.

Last year, due to PCR search, I found it difficult to transfer to Nagoya, so I stayed one night and took a Nagoya flight the next day.

Arrived at Haneda, went through immigration, picked up my luggage, went through customs,
stayed overnight at a business hotel in Kamata, and headed to Nagoya the next day.

In January, I was able to take a flight to Nagoya on the same day.

I also flew back via Haneda
My luggage went through from Nagoya to Honolulu.
In the morning, I took the 7:30am flight to Haneda, and although the transit time at Haneda was long, I enjoyed seeing Tokyo and meeting friends in Tokyo.

Actually, I am still in my hometown and came here yesterday on a direct flight to Nagoya, but
I will go back via Haneda to have fun in Tokyo.

since my first priority was to go to Centrair in the morning. There are a lot of places to stop by in Tokyo, so we won't be bored until the evening .
In that case, I would probably pick up my luggage at Haneda and leave it in the luggage storage
since I have time before my departure flight.

When I returned this New Year's holiday, there were quite a few empty seats on the Nagoya flight, but
now when I look at the available seats in the reservation system, it looks like they are filled up pretty well.
It is good to see people coming and going again, but we need to reset the feeling that we are used to empty and comfortable airplanes.

I deliberately took the Haneda route last time and this time because I could use the transfer time in Tokyo for good and I did not have to pay for the Shinkansen.

On the return trip, when you check in at JAL domestic flight at Centrair, they give you a boarding pass for
Nagoya → Haneda
Haneda → Honolulu.

And your luggage will go through to Honolulu.
So no need to pick up or check in at Haneda.
