Hello.
I will be returning to Japan in August and went to apply for my daughter's US passport on June 1.
I had to pay an additional fee of ＄ 60 because I could not get the passport in time for the regular issuance.
I received the passport about a week after I applied.
I applied for the passport at the post office in Waimanalo because my family told me that the post office in Waimanalo was less crowded.
I made an appointment to go there, and I am glad I did because it was definitely not crowded.

I don't know if the crowds at the application location had anything to do with it, but I received it much sooner than I expected, which was helpful.

your friend needs a reservation.
Only Hawaii residents do not need reservations, so I can no longer casually go with friends who are here as tourists.
