New Year's Special Menu] GALETTE DES ROIS

Galette ・ De ・ Roi, known as the "King's Cake," is a traditional French pastry enjoyed on January 6, Epiphany （ Pentecost ）. This holiday is known as the Christian commemoration of the visit of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus.

The crispy pie crust is filled with a rich almond cream （ frangipane ） made from almonds, butter, sugar and eggs. Before baking, it is traditional to slip in a small token or figure called a "fave," and whoever finds the fave receives a paper crown as king or queen of the day.

DEAN&DELUCA HAWAII uses almonds as the faves, and every purchase of a galette ・ de ・ loi comes with a special "fave" imported from France.
